Slimming World: Week 8

Last week I was an annoying 0.2lb away from getting my half stone, so this week my main goal was to shift that minuscule amount, achieve my half stone (one of my bigger goals) and anything on top of that was a bonus! I was quite determined and, although I was by myself as Danny was working away, I managed to stay motivated (even though nobody would have known if I’d have decided to scoff a whole bar of chocolate or order a Chinese) (not gonna lie the thought did cross my mind several times).

 

Eating

Friday
  • Runny eggs and soldiers, with a Tassimo Costa cappuccino (HEX B, 1 syn for Flora on toast, 2 syns for cappuccino)
  • Ham, 40g cheese and onion omelette (HEX A, splash of milk in mixture 1 syn)
  • Chicken Pizza made with onion, pepper, 1 tbsp BBQ sauce & 20g cheese, asparagus and own brand savoury rice (3 syns for cheese, 1 syn for BBQ sauce)
  • Snacks: chocolate fudge Alpen Light bar (3 syns), Fibre One brownie (4 syns)
  • 15 syns total
Saturday
  • Egg, beans, 2 bacon rashers with fat trimmed off, 2 heck sausages (1 syn)
  • Shared Pinch of Nom syn free waffles with boyfriend, 1.5 tbsp nutella and strawberries as topping (6 syns Nutella, 3 syns oats in recipe)
  • Homemade Cheese burger made with mince and onion, mixed together and fried in pan with frylight, in wholemeal roll with 2 slices of cheese, with Slimming World chips, mayonnaise and ketchup (HEX A, HEX B, 2 syns for sauces)
  • Snacks: chocolate fudge Alpen Light bar (3 syns)
  • 15 syns total
Sunday
  • Sausage & egg butty with BBQ sauce (HEX B, 1 syn for 2 Heck sausages, 1 syn for Flora light, 0.5 syn for 1/2 tbsp BBQ sauce)
  • Had a late breakfast so didn’t eat lunch
  • Plain pasta with 40g cheese (HEX A) (I know this is weird but I really enjoy plain pasta and couldn’t be bothered cooking!)
  • Snacks: 2 Sour Cream Pringles (1 syn), Mattessons Fridge Raiders 60g pack (3.5 syns), 1 Bueno White finger (5.5 syns), 10 mini eggs (10 syns)

Monday
  • Egg, bacon with fat removed, beans and a slice of 400g Warburtons wholemeal bread with Flora with a Tassimo Suchard hot chocolate (3 syns hot choc, 3 syns bread, 0.5 syn Flora)
  • Had a late breakfast so didn’t eat lunch
  • Homemade bolognese made with low fat mince, passata, chopped tomatoes, onion, pepper, celery, beef stock and 40g cheese (HEX A)
  • Snacks: 2 chocolate fudge Alpen light bars (HEX B), 2 Biscoff biscuits (3 syns), 1 Bueno White finger (5.5 syns)
  • 15 syns total
Tuesday
  • Ham, 20g cheese and onion omelette (3 syns cheese, splash of milk in mixture 1 syn)
  • Had a late breakfast so didn’t eat lunch
  • Pinch of Nom 1 syn chicken satay with rice (4 syns for satay as had double portion and didn’t use coconut drink as healthy extra)
  • Snacks: chocolate fudge Alpen light bar (1/2 HEX B), Alpro Chocolate milk drink carton with light spray cream (HEX A, would have had to syn the 50ml over allowance but spilled more than that as I dropped it!, 1.5 syns for cream), Fibre one brownie (4 syns)
  • 13.5 syns total
Wednesday
  • 40g Monster Puffs, 125ml Semi-Skimmed milk, cup of tea using some of the milk (1/2 HEX A, HEX B)
  • Met a friend for lunch and had an off-plan pizza (oops)
  • Chicken Stir Fry
  • Snacks: Tassimo Oreo hot chocolate (5 syns), Fruitella reduced sugar strawberry flavour 50g (9 syns)
  • 14 syns total plus whatever the pizza was
Thursday
  • 40g Weetabix chocolate chip minis with 125g milk (HEX B, 1/2 HEX A)
  • McCains Jacket Potato with 20g cheese and beans (1/2 HEX A, 1 syn for potato)
  • Sausage pasta made with Heck chicken sausages, chopped tomatoes, onion, pepper, passata, celery, and seasoning  (3 syns for sausages)
  • Snacks: Malteasers Teasers bar (9.5 syns)
  • 13.5 syns total

Trying

I didn’t try many new things this week – in fact I didn’t try any new recipes at all. The only new thing I tried was the strawberry flavour reduced sugar Fruitellas. I picked these up thinking they were low syn but when I got home and checked the app they’re actually 4.5 syns for 15g (about 6 sweets). They’re really tasty and you can’t tell they have less sugar which is great, they also take quite a while to eat (especially if like me you have braces!) so although they’re quite high in syns I’d say they are actually worth it. I also picked up some Alpen Light bars, I’d had similar things before but not these specific ones and they’re okay, a nice way of getting in your HEX B if you’re otherwise not going to, or alright if you just need a quick snack and aren’t near fruit but other than that they’re a bit naff. I’d definitely reach for something else over these, but handy to have in I suppose.

Loving

I’ve still been obsessed with green tea this week, although I did do a quick google and they recommend you drink at least 3 cups a day to see a difference to metabolism. I’ve been having maybe 1, 2 at most in one day, so I think that’s something I need to up next week. I’ve also been loving using my Tassimo machine to make hot chocolates with. The Suchard ones are only 3 syns and are okay for when you just want something low syn, but the ones I’m really raving about are the Oreo ones. They’re 5 syns each and absolutely delicious with a very unique flavour, unlike any other hot chocolate I’ve tried.

The Results

So… the results. I lost 1.8lb which means not only did I get the 0.2lb I was after and achieved my half stone, I also lost a further 1.6lb which means I’m now at a total loss of 8.6lb. 8 weeks in, some people might think 8.6lb isn’t a very good loss, but I’m not even 5 feet tall and I’ve always been a slow loser however I attempted weight loss so, for me, I’m more than happy losing on average 1lb ish a week. If I continue the rate I’m going, by the time I’m a bridesmaid in 8 weeks time I’ll have lost another 8lb which will put me at a loss of over a stone.

Something I did notice this week was that I did go over on my syns a few days, even though I thought I’d been good. It’s not a habit I want to get into however I did go on a huge walk at the weekend so I think that may have offset those odd syns over the limit. I also didn’t eat much fruit this week, I’m not really sure why as I had it in the fridge, so another goal for next week is to up my fruit intake and speed in general.
