After the first week’s worth of products in my beauty advent calendar were all such a hit, I couldn’t wait to start on week 2.
I was hoping I’d get some more Kiehl’s this week, because I bloody love me some Kiehls. I didn’t, but what I did get were two perfumes and lots of skin goodies.
And I’ve just realised that although this is ‘week 2’ of the advent calendar, it’s actually not much more than a week until it’s the big day. WHAT.
I put up my tree this week. It was all very ‘Christmas film’ cringe, with music and cheese and making a day of it, except we had festive toasties instead of eggnog, and some slight tension over the light arrangement because what’s Christmas without a few squabbles eh?
So without further ado, here’s what I opened the past week.
Lancome Tonique Douceur Toner
I really like this. It’s hydrating, it’s refreshing, it feels like an extra luxury step in my routine. Would I pay £23 for the full size? Nah, probably not.
But I like it nonetheless.
Lancome Advanced Genifique Moisturiser
Okay I’m divided on this. I did uite like it until I spotted the price tag, and yes it’s hydrating and feels nice but it didn’t WOW me to the point I’d pay £60+ for a bottle.
Lancome Energie De Vie Liuid Moisturiser
I’m yet to use this, because JEEZ have you seen how much skincare I got this week?! Howevz I am well excited and after doing some research, it seems quite innovative and different in terms of skincare. It’s also inspired by Korean beauty, which is some of the most innovative around. Can’t wait to give this a go.
Lancome Tresor Perfume
I didn’t love this. Fragrance is such a personal and unique thing, it was unlikely I’d love all the perfume included in the calendar. I absolutely LOVE Viktor & Rolf BonBon, but this Lancome offering was unfortunately just too mature for me.
Lancome Hypnose Volume-a-porter Mascara
Another sample I’ve yet to open, this lancome mascara is described as ‘a new ultra creamy formula for long-lasting, intense volume’. I’m honestly so lazy with mascara these days, most days I don’t bother with any at all (and regret it as soon as I get to work and look in the mirror, fs), so I don’t want to open this as well as last week’s mascara because it’ll just go to waste.
I’ll update this post once I’ve given it a go and let you know if it lives up to its claims.
Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Eye Cream
This one was a hit. A lovely formula that wasn’t greasy, and absorbed into my skin quickly. I haven’t used it for long enough to comment on whether it works from an ‘anti ageing’ stance, but it was a nice product that hydrated my under eyes.
YSL Mon Paris Eau De Parfum
Again, another perfume I wasn’t completely fussed about. It was okay, and I preferred it to the Lancome one above, but I didn’t love it. And life is way too short to be wearing perfume you don’t adore.
